When should I say ‘Yes’ to my dress!?
As all of our dresses are ready to buy off the peg and take away on the day there is no worries about lead times and ordering. You can walk in empty handed and leave with your dream dress! We can still take orders on some of our dresses so if you’d like a different colour option or an alternative size then this can be done!
In this case, most designers work on average 6 months lead time so please think ahead if this is something you’d consider.
Can I bring my Mum, Mother in Law, 2 Aunts, 2 grannies, 50 bridesmaids to the appointment with me?
Obviously everyone is welcome at Mabel & Maud; however we want you to have the most relaxed, stress-free experience as possible and sometimes too many cooks spoil the …. dress! The more opinions you have thrown at you the more confusing everything becomes. (We’re also only a little boutique and can’t fit you all in comfortably!)
We recommend bringing 2-3 people with you whose opinion really matters to you and whose opinion you really trust.
We also find that little people and pretty dresses generally don’t mix well, so if you do have young children why not utilise one of your bridesmaids and ask them to stay at home and babysit for you!?
I have no idea what style of dress will suit me!
Don’t panic! That’s what we are here for!
We promise we won’t make you look hideous … it’s really not in our best interests to put you in a dress that shows all of your lumps and bumps, so please trust us when we encourage you to try various different shapes and styles of gown during your appointment at Mabel & Maud.. dresses really do look completely different on a bride compared to on a clothes hanger.
That said, your aim should be to find a gown that makes you look and feel like a more fabulous version of your day to day self. So think about the last dress you wore that you felt amazing in and consider the fit and style… sharing this information with us will help us out immensely when we start to select dresses for you to try.
But will your dresses fit me?
Sample dresses rarely fit any bride perfectly… that’s what our seamstress is for! They’re either too big or too small and our dresses range from a size 12-16. So this is where we need you again to rely on our expertise! We can do wondrous things with pins and ribbon and we’ll make sure that when you try on our gowns you’ll look and feel fabulous.
What happens when I find The One?
Congratulations! You can finally stop the search!
If you do fall in love with one of our gowns, we take full payment on the day and you walk out of Mabel & Maud with a beautiful gown in your arms!
If you are lucky enough to have someone else buy your wedding dress for you, then it’s always a great idea, if you can, to include them in this wonderful experience and invite them along to the appointment.
So what happens next?
We work with an amazingly talented seamstresses who we wholeheartedly recommend to all of our brides, and you can visit her at her respective studio, we can help you organise the whole process. These fabulous ladies will provide you with a bespoke quote for your alterations as every bride’s requirements are, of course, different. However, they do offer an alterations package (which includes all of your basic alterations) and this costs around £230.
